Day 12 - River Tubing! (Saturday 20th November)

Chaggie rose in their very drab room at about 08.40 and their immediate task was to try and find something to do during the day, to avoid total boredom. We went down to the travel agents not far from our digs, and, after receiving leaflets the night before on things to do, Chaggie had a much better outlook and plan on what they were going to do for the week. The lady in the travel agents suggested, as it was too late to do a full day activity, the River Tubing on River Mangrove, which was a 14.00 pick up outside our hostel.

River tubing is basically sitting in a big blow up doughnut, then letting the rapids in the river take you down the river, whilst also trying to avoid quite big rocks in the water. It's not quite as extreme as White Water Rafting, but if you didn't have your whits about you, you could find yourself either underwater, or on a rock.

Chaggie thoroughly enjoyed their time River Tubing, although the weather wasn't great, this wasn't really an issue when the beauty of the rain forest surrounding us was enough of a sight.

The tour guide was a laugh, we got to the bottom of the river and were allowed to go back halfway and go over again.

Chaggie got back to Cairns at about 18.30, and after showering, had a well earned dinner and an early night ready for their Scuba/Snorkeling adventure on the Great Barrier Reef the next day! This could be the highlight of the whole trip so far!
