Day 87 - The Wanganui River Trip

This morning Chaggie woke up around 10:00, we had breakfast with Jock and Sue. Jock was eager to show us the Wanganui River today, he knew a lot about it, a drive he loves too. We soon left at 11:30, Sue stayed at home to look after the dogs and prepare dinner for this evening, Jock and Chaggie started their trip along the Wanganui River, making sure we had petrol before hand.

Jock took us right up as far as roads go along the river today, he was eager to drive the Honda, Chaggie couldn't say no, we had been doing a lot of driving recently and were glad to give him the opportunity to. Was a brilliant trip, Jock was a great guide who certainly knows his facts on the river and surrounding areas. We drove through villages called Athens, London and Jerusalem today, so we can say we've been to each place in one day now. We made stops at scenic look-outs, a very old Mill and in a village called Pipiriki for lunch. The weather wasn't great but didn't stop us, was still an enjoyable trip and was good to do. Staggie was unfortunately not feeling too great today, he had suddenly caught a rough cold overnight, Chino was hoping his would soon clear up in that case, nice sympathetic friend ey.

We got back around 16:00, a long 4 hours of driving. Staggie headed to bed whilst Chino chilled out with Jock and Sue before dinner. Phill didn't wake until quite late this evening around 20:00, he had his dinner in front of the TV, was much appreciated, a lovely trifle for pudding made by Sue. There was lots of news on today, Australia and the type 5 cyclone and the corruption in Egypt.

This evening we booked accommodation in Napier and Taupo and headed to bed around 12:30.
