Day 26 - Boat Harbour + King's Cross (Sat 4th Dec)

This morning Chaggie were both up at 09:30 and were dressed and showered by 10:00. The weather was pretty dry still but overcast. Jodi planned to take us to Boat Harbour, a beach that she prefers and can drive along with her 4x4. We left at around 10:30 and went shopping for lunch, a well chosen menu of a whole roast chicken and rolls. Were certainly looking forward to it on the beach. We went to pick up Jodi's friend, Michelle, not too far from Boat Harbour, near Cronulla. It was until we reached Michelles house that Chaggie realised we must have left the chicken on the counter of the supermarket. Top effort. Managing to buy another one thanks to Michelle, we then hit the beach.

The weather brightened up and the sun came out, the 4 of us played beach cricket, football and rugby before having lunch. We had a swim in the sea also which was a good temperature. Jodi also let Chaggie have a drive around the beach with her automatic 4x4, should keep us in practice for our driving in NZ which may also be in an automatic. Was a good morning and was nice to meet Jodi's friend.

The 4 of us all returned back to Jodi's at 14:00ish and set up a water slide down the back garden, it has a perfect slope. With just a bit of washing up liquid and a hose, we picked up some speed well. We washed off in the pool before Jodi took Michelle back home, Chaggie stayed and got ready for their evening plans with Basil.

For dinner this evening at 19:00ish we had a bbq cooked by John with Kathryn as well. Chaggie got their chance to try Kangaroo for the first time, had quite a unique texture to meat we're used to at home but went down well all the same. Kathryn gave us a lift this evening to Basil's hostel in Sydney Central which was great. Due to a long, busy day though Chaggie were finding it difficult staying up in the car, not to worry as a crate of beer would do the trick for a few hours. We had pre-drinks in Basil's room and were joined by an American girl (can't remember her name). We ended up having to leave at 23:00 once Basil's room mates (all a lot older) had returned and wanted some sleep. So we headed for King's Cross which Basil had been telling us all about.

It was this evening that we found out Sydney is actually the gay capital of Australia, didn't take too long to realise this once we were out in King's Cross. Unfortunatley Chino couldn't get into a club wearing shorts, so a pub it was to put in another round.

We hit a few pubs before having to catch a train back to Central at 02:00 ready for what we thought would be a train home. Staggie had earlier researched into train and bus times on the New South Wales transport site and found there was a train every hour. Once again we found the transport was deceiving, the last train was at 02:00 with the next one not till 05:00. So Chaggie, after getting a kebab found themselves stranded in Sydney, couldn't get a train or bus and no taxis would pick us up and drive us to where we needed to go.

In the end we were very sorry to ask for a lift of Jodi who did earlier give us her number if we needed a ride, we never planned to of course. She was fantastic and came out and got us. Chaggie were very pleased to get back at about 04:00 and hit the sack instantly.

We owe Jodi a lot of round's in tomorrow evenings antics which should definately be a lot more successful than tonights.

Chaggie x
