Day 42 - To Wellington (Mon 20th Dec)

Today was our trip to Wellington, the last place we'd stay before our ferry to the South Island. We left Jock and Sue's at 10:30 this morning after breakfast, was fantastic to also see the weather had no rain for us this morning.

It took us 2 hours to get to the small village, 'Paraparaumu' where Chaggie made a stop to visit Phills great Aunty Chester. At 91 years of age, she was at the door to greet us, an amazing woman of her age still driving at times even! It was good for Phill to see her, it had only been 18 years since he last saw her at 9 months old!

This afternoon on the way to Wellington, we stopped off to chill out on Paraparaumu Beach, just to take in the sun we had eventually got. Not far away though were the black clouds that must have followed us as we went South. We got to Wellington at 16:00 where we stopped for a late lunch in the city before making our way to Brent and Jeanette's. Brent is a second cousin of Phill's and once again, Chaggie had found themselves staying with amazing hosts. A roast dinner was served soon after our arrival!

During our stay with Brent and Jeanette, Chaggie were staying in their own studio built on top of Brent's garage. With great views, we were certainly happy to be in Wellington. We spent the evening with Brent, Jeanette and their son Tim watching 'Queen' live whilst playing cards and catching up.

Chaggie planned what to do tomorrow, the rain had caught up with us by the end of this evening and so indoor plans had to be made.

Chaggie x
