Day 53 Continued - New Years Eve (Fri 31st Dec)

After Chino had finished his epic skydive, Staggie was called by Chino asking for a pick up, after picking Chino up from Motueka airport (5 minutes from Eleanor's), they both went back to Eleanor's where Chino could show off the pictures of his skydive! It looked pretty damn awesome!

We then set off back to Kaiteriteri where we would be spending New Years Eve. On the way back we dropped into a supermarket and picked up some beers ready for the evening.
Once we arrived back, we made sure that the place was pretty much clean and tidy before we had to leave at 12.00pm the next day.
After ensuring most of the place was tidy, we got the music going and the beers open. Before we were able to start drinking, Chino got a call from the skydive company telling him his video was ready to be picked up. So Chino went back into Motueka to pick it up whilst Staggie sat in the sun on the balcony!

After Chino arrived back at The Plum, we could finally start on the beers! As the eveing drew in and plenty of beers drunk, Chaggie were preparing themselves for hopefully an epic last evening of 2010. Chaggie, however, started to realise that Kaiteriteri may not be the best place for New Years, as looking down to the beach from The Plum, there wasn't that many people, infact we could count the amount of people down there. Surely it couldn't stay like that, considering there was a fairly big camping ground down at the beach!

We headed down to the beach at around 21.30 as more people had gathered around the beach by this point and we could also hear a live band, so things were looking up! With plenty of beers consumed, Chaggie stumbled down the track which goes direct down from The Plum to the beach and were a little shocked to see mainly kids gathered at the beach! Oh no! We were now regretting not going to Nelson!

The live band we saw, 'Traffick' were not that special to be honest, Chaggie would do a better job but we did meet some Kiwis about our age and got to know them before we headed to the beach at 23.30 to see the fireworks at midnight, obviously.

2011 had arrived with an impressive firework display on a barge on the Kaiterirteri beach bay! Chaggie hung around for an hour or so but with the beach being full of 13 year olds, there wasn't much fun in it. However, it was amusing laughing at all these kids thinking they were drunk.

2011 had finally arrived and Chaggie could look forward to plenty more fun in the year to come! Bring it on!

Chaggie x
