Day 60 - Good Start to Christchurch (Fri 7th Jan)

Staggie and Chino woke up around 09:00 this morning and packed their bags. After showering and having breakfast we said goodbye to Lyn and Warren. They had to go out at 10:30 and so left us to let ourselves out when we left. Lovely people, very warm and welcoming, they gave us a great couple of chilled out days so thanks to the Edmeades!

Before they left we managed to get a photo with them, something we've been meaning to do with all the hosts we've been staying with but have only just remembered to do so. Once they left we did a little more blog writing, before watching the highlights of the cricket and popping on facebook.

We left to Christchurch once we had chucked our bags in the car and left a message in the Edmeades guest book. We hit the road at about 11:30, Staggie drove wanting to get to Chris's in time for the cricket! It is Chris and his family (the Wood's) who we are staying with for the next few days, we were much looking forward to it! It took us about half an hour to get to Chris's house, Staggie was eager to see his new, extended house.
We knocked on the door to find Chris surprised to see us. He was expecting us to arrive on Monday, luckily for us his parents were well aware it was today. Not only was Chris surprised but relieved to find Chaggie at the door, he had a few mates the night before and the place wasn't as tidy as he planned for it to be, with a man made fort in the lounge. Chaggie were impressed by the fort and met one of Chris's mates who had stayed the night; Josh.

Once Chris and Josh had woken up, the four of us chilled out and played Nazi Zombies on the Xbox. This will be a memorable moment to our trip I'm sure. We were on a high after a few rounds of Zombies and made use of the four BB guns Chris is very lucky to own. We geared up with goggles and BB pellets before playing BB Wars out in the front garden (the pictures show our amazing BB War forts). First we played a few team death matches, Josh then left a little later on so Chris and Chaggie played all on all. This certainly turned out to be an exciting and chilled out start to our trip, a nice amount of banter was present. The rest of the Wood family arrived during one of our all on all games, lucky for them none of us were shooting at the time. Giles, Liz and Beth had all returned from their holiday to Nelson over New Years. We helped them with their luggage and brought our own bags in with us.

This evening we all had a Chinese takeaway, more vegetable orientated to English chinese takeaway's but still very good! Chris and Chaggie stayed up afterwards watching Ricky Gervais live and 'How I Met Your Mother'; a series both Phill and Chino had never seen before but were soon very keen on. We ended up going to bed at about 03:00 in the morning, a good banter-filled day.

A great start to our time in Christchurch.

Chaggie x
